There are several systems for representing the sounds of Sanskrit using the Latin alphabet. IAST (International Alphabet of Sanskrit Transliteration), the scientifically accepted standard transliteration, is easiest to type using the Heidelberg Input Solution.

Different online resources require other ASCII-based input methods. The ITRANS system is described here, Velthuis here, Harvard-Kyoto here.
