Undergraduate studies in Indology, Sinology, Indian Art History and Oriental Studies in Munich. 1980: One-year research stay as a DAAD scholar at Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi and at the Hindu University in Benares.
1982-1992: numerous visits to India and Pakistan; organization of 25 trips to India and Pakistan for the study tour operators Studiosus and Klingenstein (both in Munich)
